Egg-cellent Easter Activities in Dublin

Easter in Dublin is a time buzzing with excitement and activities. Across the city, you’ll find a myriad of exciting events the kids will love. One of the best annual events is the Dublin Zoo Easter celebrations, where you can expect egg hunts, face painting, and even an appearance by the Easter Bunny. It’s made all the better by encounters with exotic wildlife and the zoo’s new dinosaur exhibit!

Every year, Malahide Castle puts on an Easter event to remember. Set against the backdrop of an almost magical 12th-century castle, you can enjoy a picnic on the lawns and live entertainment. There’s also a beautiful fairy garden where kids can go on an exciting scavenger hunt!

For a truly unique Easter activity, head to Croke Park for their one-of-a-kind Teidí Tours! Over the holidays, the iconic stadium invites youngsters to make their very own GAA-themed teidí, choosing everything from their fur to their heart to make their bear friend.

Cork Easter Hop Alongs and Events

In County Cork, the Easter festivities are celebrated outdoors among farm animals, wildlife, and woodlands. Leahy’s Open Farm invites the whole family on a hop-along through the farm, where kids can get creative with Easter egg painting while parents can take part in egg-and-spoon races! As part of the fun, you can meet the creatures of the petting zoo, including horses, cows, goats, deer, and donkeys.

For a different kind of animal experience, join the annual Easter trail at FOTA Wildlife Park! Kids go on a unique Easter egg hunt through the sanctuary, coming up close to lions, cheetahs, giraffes, monkeys, and more along the way. There will also be fun, educational workshops and wildlife talks to take part in!

On the banks of the River Lee, Balincollig Regional Park makes the perfect setting for an Easter egg hunt through the forest. This annual event is a firm favourite among locals not only for the face painting, Easter bunny, and balloon artist but for the joyful atmosphere.

Easter Parades and Festivities in Roscommon

County Roscommon sure knows how to celebrate Easter. In fact, the town of Roscommon is one of the few in Ireland that has an Easter parade instead of a St. Patrick’s Day Parade! With music, dancing, and live performances, the parade is not only a celebration of Easter, but of Roscommon! Join in the festivities and watch the incredible performers and floats for a jubilant Easter weekend.

Not to be missed is the iconic Strokestown Easter trail, where the kids can put on their thinking caps and follow clues through the Victorian Walled Gardens to get their delicious chocolate prize! And for even more fun, join the Easter egg hunts at Glendeer Pet Farm where kids will not only get to meet the Easter bunny, but a medley of animals including deer, emus, meerkats, and llamas! Outside of Easter, Glendeer also makes an excellent location for a birthday party. You can learn more with our blog about Birthday Party Venues In Roscommon For Kids!
